New report: Solutions for a Nitrogen-Soaked World

The nitrogen cycle has been profoundly altered by human activities, and that in turn is affecting human health, air and waterquality, and biodiversity in the U.S. In "Excess Nitrogen in the U.S Environment: Trends, Risks, and Solutions," a multidisciplinary team reviews US nitrogen pollution trends, risks, and solutions. The report appears in the latest Ecological Society of America's Issues in Ecology.

"Nitrogen pollution is choking estuaries with algal growth, and threatening biodiversity," said lead author Eric Davidson. "It's even changing how quickly trees like red maple grow in our forests." Read the media advisory here.
